Songbird

Making it through a winter storm
The Songbird arrived
in Chicago at Christmastime

The Songbird came to sing the blues
But she was happy
In Chicago at Christmastime

The cab to the Hyatt was a smile
The songbird was singing
One long mile so beautifully

That night we had dinner at the village
So spontaneously
An Italian Aria just for me

The Songbird came to sing the blues
But she was happy
In Chicago at Christmastime

We whisked away in another cab
That city alive
You a canary, in Kingston Mines

At last the Songbird sang the blues
and she was still happy
In Chicago at Christmastime

Extending our stay a few more hours
to lie in bed
And the songbird she flew away
At Christmas time
