Goodbye Arena

Goodbye Arena
Crowing all the time
Goodbye Arena, Arena
Catatonic all the time

The hounds at bay a beast
But no one can see them
And there’s something vexing inside
When they bite so deep they no longer feel it
I hold onto my life line

Goodbye deadly spirits brewing
And drinking all the time
Goodbye Arena, Arena
We were drunk all the time

The house of worship still needs a preacher
And the mayor’s gone fishing for some time
When some evil sweeps through with no one to spell it
We hold our breath and hope it dies

Goodbye to our masks of our dreaming
Disenchanted all the time
Goodbye Arena, Arena
We were dead in the web all the time

The haunted oaks lean over the blue highway
And the dashes blur to a line
When the dark wind wraps it’s howling around
Hold and seek the electric wire
